It is my belief that Humans are Creators. We create the world around us. What we create can contain any form of vibration and energy depending on the way in which we create it and our intentions during the creation. As an artist and former acupuncturist I know that intention is very important. We are human instruments creating our intentions into the world. If we wake in the morning and have an intention to have a wonderful joyful day, that will evolve into place for us. If we have an intention to ‘get through it’ then we may do so but not in the joyful way we could have done with the previous intention. In acupuncture intention is everything when we needle the points, it is the key to moving energy and providing a good treatment that restores balance.
A painting day will begin with my intention, which might take a while to evolve inside of myself. It may begin as a spark or primordial force that comes into my consciousness through working with a client, self healing or communicating with the land, Angels or elemental beings. The spark emerges as an energetic light, which forms into the seed of my intention. During this time which can be possible weeks in coming through my consciousness I will draw, write, walk, sing, breathe it through into my consciousness. As I move into the studio I begin my studio rituals which help me to create a pure space for this come through me.
As a background to this I look after myself. I nourish myself with high quality biodynamic and organic local foods, I exercise with yoga, running in the forest and dance. I decorate my bodies in silks, fabrics and clothes that feel good to me. I read poetry and listen to music. I listen to my Star children and become present in myself. These are all the pillars of wellbeing that allow me to do this work and I respect that. I make no apology for it and I give this gift of intention for all people to find their supportive flow in their physical lives, body mind and spirit.
My studio is my spiritual space. I love being there and it is a high vibration for my soul energy. It allows me to process difficult and complicated energy as well as to feel safe and stable in higher energy that support me. It is clean unless I am working on a project and am in the mess of a creative process. The first action I take is to clear the space. I light a candle, use incense and sound to clear out lower energy. I meditate in the space to clear my energy. I call in the Angels and my Spirit Guides to assist and help me. They often bring me inspirations and ideas. They have creative forces of their own that they wish to express in the physical but they ask me if I will do this for them. I am careful with the vibration I choose to work with and they always need to feel uplifted and aligned with my soul frequency. I love working with Angels as they bring so much joy and colour into the space for inspiration.
The studio is full of items that help me to retain my soul frequency. I have crystals everywhere and candles. I hang paintings and sketches I am working on and feel the frequencies are high. I have fresh flowers in the space and use these to meditate and focus on if I feel I am working through density. I love my oracle cards and use these in the space to create alignment if I need it. My whole intention and goal is to allow myself to channel in higher spiritual energies as I work, to feel the flow of love, joy and creative power.
When I feel ready I begin to prepare my canvas and painting equipment. I like lots of space around me when I am painting on larger canvas so I can move around and flow. As I mix the oil paints on the palettes I am entering a flow of feeling like a meditative state. I can work quickly with the paint on the brushes and then onto canvas. Sometimes I use a compass and ruler to create sacred geometry other times spontaneous spaces emerge as I work. There is a dynamic flow as I am working and I am not analysing or using my mind at this stage. It feels important to me to be a flow of sensation and feeling. The movement of the brush or palette knife and the flowing shapes of the paint as the colours are mixed and applied.
After one studio session I will allow the painting to have time to dry. I may have many sessions before it is finished and sometimes a painting can transform entirely by the end of the process. If I am working with a client in a 3 or 6 month package then this can happen as they transform through the process. We are evolving energy and this will also show in the painting as the client evolves and heals, integrating more soul light which then shows up on the painting.
At the end of a studio session I thank the Spiritual Guides and Angels for their presence and then I go into nature to ground the energy. Walking barefoot on the grass is a great way to release any energy build up or communing with the trees who are such benevolent beings. I always feel touched by the process of painting. I find it is a way to commune with a depth inside myself that is beyond the human world of words. I also find it is a deeply honouring process for me to the Spiritual Realms.
